Description of the Home Plus Modular Volumetric Lightweight Galvanised Steel Building System

The Home Plus Ltd. system is intended to be a ‘turnkey’ operation, that is the shell of the building, including external and internal finishes, will be designed and erected by ModPods International Ltd. The 95% externally and internally completed units are transported to site, erected on a pre-prepared base, and structurally interconnected to provide composite action using screws and bolts in accordance with the engineer’s fixing specification to meet the requirements of the UK structural codes. Where established by calculation, holding down devices may be installed at ground level. Site works are limited to completing structural, finishes and services connections

Limits of Scope

• Maximum 2 storeys for residential use;
• Bottom members in contact with foundations/sub-structure must be fully isolated from contact with moisture from the ground or external sources;
• lightweight steel members must not be in potential contact with moisture;
• Minimum 25 mm drained cavity behind external wall claddings, or as required by the cladding manufacturer;
• Adequate sub-floor ventilation must be maintained to the void below the ground floor – minimum 1500mm2/linear metre of external walls or 500mm2/m2of floor area;
• Home Plus Ltd must be contracted for the design, manufacture, supply and erection of the structures;
• A chartered structural engineer suitably experienced in the design of this type of structure must be sub-contracted for the structural analysis and design
